Indian Railways has strict rules regarding passengers traveling with waiting tickets. Here are the key points:
- Traveling with Waiting Ticket Not Allowed: Passengers are not allowed to travel with a waiting ticket. This rule applies after the chart has been prepared. If caught, they will be liable for the full fare plus a penalty. They are considered to be traveling without a confirmed ticket.
- No Refund for Counter Tickets: Tickets purchased from the reservation counter are not refundable. This means that even if a waiting ticket is purchased from the counter, it cannot be refunded. The refund is not possible if the seat is not confirmed.
- Postponement of Journey: Postponement of journey on reserved, RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation), or waitlisted tickets is allowed under certain conditions. However, this does not guarantee a confirmed seat.
- TTE Checks: Ticket checkers (TTEs) are required to check tickets before 10 p.m. to avoid disturbing passengers. This ensures that all passengers have valid tickets before the night hours.
In summary, passengers should not travel with a waiting ticket after the chart has been prepared. They will be subject to penalties. If a confirmed ticket is not available, it is better to explore alternative travel options or postpone the journey.
